KaVo ARCUS digma II:

The ARCUS digma "3D ultrasound navigator" is such an up-to-date diagnostic instrument which allows us to analyze the kinematics of the mandible. The equipment gives insight into the condylar and incisal points, the synchronous spatial movement of the right and left condylar points and the kinematic axis, its change of speed that can all refer to discoordination, limitation of movement, hypermobility leading to functional disorders. After taking medical and dental history, clinical examination and X-ray diagnosis we examined people (new patients) suffering from TMJ dysfunction with the ARCUS digma, too. We present some typical functional mandibular movements. We can not only rely on subjective judgements but it also provides an objective diagnosis based on numerical data. It does not replace but rather complies with the conventional methods and puts the diagnostic and therapeutical procedures known so far into a new dimension. The results demonstrate that this sort of investigation will not put an end to the necessity of traditional procedures used up till now but complete them, and at the same time it provides diagnostic surplus and it is indispensable for patients suffering from dysfunctional disorders to be treated in a modern way.

NTI-tss

NTI is a transparent splint worn on anterior teeth. 4 out of 10 people clench their jaws or grind their teeth in their sleep. Due to intensive muscle contraction typical to jaw clenching and grinding, pain appears in adjacent tissues, joints and muscles. By reducing the biting force we reduce the immediate cause of pain. Thus, we break the negative functional pattern.

Also people suffering from migraines, without simultaneous occurrence of other symptoms, can successfully use the NTI splint. If you suffer from chronic headache or migraine, you surely clench your teeth, which leads to enormous muscle effort. This type of strong teeth clenching occurs completely unconsciously, and if it is not accompanied by grinding, then teeth are not subjected to damage. Therefore this cause of headache may escape the attention of the doctor, dentist or patient himself.
The NTI device prevents from muscle ache, but also from jaw and joint aches, neck stiffness, tooth sensitivity, and various types of headache.

TMJ relaxation splint

It is a specially shaped liner, designed for treatment of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders.. Excessive tooth abrasion, difficulties in wide opening of the mouth or clicking heard during jaw opening is the symptoms of the so-called myoarthropathy. Such afflictions are often caused by occlusion irregularities, such as orthodontic defects, excessively high fillings or prosthetic restorations. However, temporomandibular joint disorders are very often caused by overload resulting from excess muscle activity, most often stress-related, called bruxism.

Therefore a TMJ relaxation splint is as solution for those who clench or grind their teeth (most commonly at night), unconsciously reacting to daytime.

A TMJ splint is an effective and immediate means of treatment of unpleasant symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorders, such as:

• morning feeling of numbness and tiredness of jaws;
• unexplained neck- and headaches;
• earache;
• clicking and pain in temporomandibular joints;
• tooth abrasion.

A TMJ splint is a ready-made intraoral device that can be held in a small box. It does require taking tooth impressions and it does not affect teeth.

Its functionality is based on appropriately aligning the mandible, giving relief to temporomandibular joints and automatically stretching contracted and aching head and neck muscles.

Full elimination of all symptoms may require further specialist treatment.
